Starting early in the reporting process, I worked with a senior editor to conceptualize how the depth and nuance of such a sprawling, diverse story could be presented online.

This was the first project of its kind for New York Mag, where the digital and interactive presentation was a key factor in telling the complete story.

I designed and coded over 25 unique footnotes for the sidebar area to provide historical and contextual information to the main story, including interactive charts.
